Pundit can't believe Tottenham could seal 'genius' Adama Traore signing after £10m reveal
Noel Whelan has insisted he can’t see Tottenham reigniting their interest in Adama Traore despite links to the wantaway Wolves star.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 26-year-old is “too lively” to be able to perform in a wing-back berth for Antonio Conte.
According to 90min (2 August), Tottenham could turn attention to Traore if they fail to wrap up a move for Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo.
Conte was close to landing the lightning-quick ace in January – and reportedly planned to transform him into a right wing-back.
Football Insider revealed last month (13 July) that Wolves will accept a £10milion bid for Traore this summer as he enters the final year of his contract.
Everton are interested in his services, but it is understood that he wants a move to a top-four side.

Whelan insisted Traore would prefer to play higher up the pitch.
He suggested there are real question marks about the Spain international’s “defensive ability”.
When asked if Conte could look to go back in for Traore, he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “I just don’t see him as a wing-back.
“He’s just too lively going forward. That’s just the way he plays – he’s forward-thinking.
“He has always been that kind of player, he wants to hurt teams in the final third. Defensive ability? We don’t know too much about that.
“It’s something that Conte might see, and others don’t. It could be a stroke of genius.
“But when you have someone with Traore’s talents, I think he’ll want to be in that final third, driving past people, and scoring goals.”
