Leeds pundit claims ‘it doesn’t look good’ amid ‘really worrying’ Bamford update
Paddy Kenny claims Patrick Bamford’s continued absence is “really worrying” for Leeds United.
The former Whites stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insists the club may have to sign a new striker in January to bolster their attacking options.
On November 19, Phil Hay quoted Marcelo Bielsa as saying he could not put a timescale on Bamford’s return.
The striker has not played for Leeds since 17 September, when he picked up an injury against Newcastle.
Leeds have struggled in front of goal without Bamford, scoring just 11 Premier League goals this season.
The hitman bagged 17 goals and chipped in with eight assists during the 2020-21 campaign.
However, he had only managed to score one goal before picking up his knock.
Kenny has suggested Leeds could replace Bamford in January.
“It doesn’t look good,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“It sounded like he was going to be back after the last international break and he’s still not fit now.
“I’m sure Leeds will look to strengthen that area. They only have 11 goals in 11 games.
“They are missing Bamford massively, with the goals and assists he contributed 25 goals or something like that last season.
“Leeds just don’t have anyone who seems comfortable putting the ball in the net.
“The fact Bamford has been out for so long is really worrying. He’s barely played.”

Bamford’s sole goal this season came away at Burnley on 29 August.
He has also registered two assists.
