Pundit claims Rangers in ‘big trouble’ after source’s Allan McGregor reveal – ‘from what I hear’
Frank McAvennie has claimed Rangers do not have the money to sign a new goalkeeper in January.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said Jon McLaughlin is not a suitable replacement for Allan McGregor but insisted the Gers do not have the funds for new players
On Thursday (20 October), sources told this site that the Light Blues have set aside “significant” cash from the budget to secure a new keeper next year, and could bring forward a potential signing to January.

McGregor, 40, has entered the final 12 months of his Ibrox contract after signing an extension in the summer.
McLaughlin’s deal with the Glasgow club expires in 2024 and third choice keeper Robby McCrorie just signed a deal keeping him at the club until 2025.
McAvennie claimed that although Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side need to make new signings, they are not in a financial position to do so.
“McLaughlin has been in and Gio fancied him and kept him in,” he told Football Insider.
“He cost them points and he cost them goals. At the moment he is not better than McGregor who is 40. There will come a day where he can’t do it anymore.

“I do not think McLaughlin is a good back up for McGregor. He has had a couple of howlers. I think they are in big trouble. I do not know if they have got the money to bring someone in.
“From what I heard the directors want some of the money from the Champions League back. If that is true there is no money there to buy players.“
