Pundit defends Leeds United players as footage emerges on Twitter

Alan Hutton doesn’t understand the outrage surrounding Leeds United’s players as footage of them ignoring a young fan emerged on Twitter.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said those situations happen at every club.

In footage shared to Twitter (30 April), the Leeds players are filmed ignoring fans on their way out of the hotel before their 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth.

The players released a statement on Monday (1 May) apologising for the scenes in the video and the hefty defeat which moors at the bottom end of the table.

But Hutton defended the players and insisted they weren’t acting deliberately.

It just comes down to what you are like,” he told Football Insider.

I have seen it happen millions of times where players have walked by and got on the bus. I have seen other times when players have stopped and signed autographs, it really just depends.

I think because it has been caught at Arsenal a wee while ago, they are now looking for it. I am telling you right now, if you go to every single football team you will see that.

It is not that the person does not care, that is not what it is all about, you could be trying to focus.

“I know people will look at that and say the game is not for another four hours, that is also right. It just depends what kind of zone or mood you are in.

If every single player was to stop and sign every single autography, they would not make the kick off. That is not me standing up for them, that is just me being honest.

Ultimately it comes down to the players and how they are.”
