Pundit drop exciting Newcastle United transfer claim – ‘the world is their oyster now’
Alan Hutton has told Newcastle United “the world is their oyster” when it comes to transfers.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender told Newcastle to focus on upgrading their current options and not signing players for the sake of it.
On 14 February, sources told this site that the Magpies will bolster their squad with a number of top-quality signings this summer if they secure European qualification.
Newcastle are currently fifth in the Premier League table, but are only one point behind Tottenham with a game in hand.
Targets under 24 are a top priority for Eddie Howe in the summer as he looks to strengthen an already impressive squad.
When asked where Howe will be looking to bolster, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think he has done excellent so far.
“It is very difficult for me to decide what he needs but can he upgrade on what he has already got? It is not about quantity it is about quality now when you get to that kind of level.
“Of course when you are in the top four and you reach the Champions League there is going to be a different type of player. Especially in the bracket they can afford now, the world is their oyster now.

“Each player has done really well, but can they upgrade. You look at [Chris] Wood when they brought him in and he played up front and then they upgrade with [Alexander] Isak, it is going to be that sort of thing.
“Can they go and upgrade the positions that they have got? I think that is the level they are at now.“
In other news, according to sources, Newcastle United are closely monitoring Arsenal star Kieran Tierney as price tag revealed.
