Pundit drops ‘massive’ Liverpool claim after what he’s spotted – ‘all of a sudden…’
Alan Hutton has claimed regaining confidence is “massive” for Liverpool heading into the end of the season and beyond.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa striker thinks that with “fresh blood” through the door, the Reds will be able to turn things around.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently sixth in the Premier League and despite a 7-0 win over Man United at the beginning of the month, they followed up that impressive victory with a 1-0 defeat to relegation contenders Bournemouth just before the international break.
Last year’s finalists were knocked out of the Champions League by the holders Real Madrid on 15 March after the Spanish side’s 5-2 win at Anfield was topped up by a 1-0 victory at the Bernabeu.
Earlier this season, Klopp reflected on his side’s confidence comparing it to “a little flower” and insisted it is “really difficult” when someone “stamps on it”.
That lack of confidence has been noticeable in recent games, with players less willing to show for the ball or play one-touch passes.
When asked if a lack of confidence is a big problem for Liverpool this season, Hutton told Football Insider: “Confidence is massive in football.
“It is probably the biggest thing. It does not matter how good you are, if you take that away from someone for whatever reason, maybe poor form, returning from injury, the crowd on top of you, you are never going to play the same way.

“If you are winning regularly, all the team pulling in the one direction, football all of a sudden becomes very easy. You play those one touch passes, scoring nice goals.
“But you have to build into that and it takes time. You have to start with the basics. Now is a transition for them and they need some fresh blood through the door.“
In other news, Liverpool well placed to sign centre-back in new twist.
