Pundit drops ‘massive’ Sven Botman claim after Newcastle United latest

Newcastle United will be desperate to have Sven Botman back in the squad after the international break.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton said Botman has been a “massive” part of Newcastle’s success in the last year.

The 23-year-old was left out of the Netherlands squad for their Euro qualifiers this month due to his injury and faces a race to be fit for this weekend’s match against Brentford.

The defender has been stepping up his recovery at the club’s Benton base and is hoping to be available for the game on Saturday (16 September).

Hutton insisted the Magpies will be desperate to have Botman back in the squad as soon as possible.

He is a massive part of that squad. They have had an up and down season so far but that is what happens.

Expectations are through the roof, they have now got the Champions League thrown into the mix as well so everybody’s eyes are on them.

I had thought they would go out and spend more than what they did. They got to where they are quicker than what people were expecting and now the pressure is on them to keep it up.

It has not been the best start to the season but I think having a fully fit squad will help and he is a massive part of that.

Eddie Howe’s side are currently 14th in the league with just one win from their four opening Premier League fixtures.
