Pundit Exclusive: Harry Kane transformation due to one thing I’ve never seen him do before

Tottenham striker Harry Kane is “taking up positions he never has before”, according to Paul Robinson.

The former England number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, said he has seen the 27-year-old “dropping into deeper positions” and claimed his work-rate and all-round game has improved this season.

Kane has scored 10 goals in nine games this season but more interestingly he has contributed eight assists – six more than the 2019/20 campaign already.

The England captain has already eclipsed his highest ever total of assists in a single season of seven, achieved in 2016/17.

Against Southampton earlier this month Kane assisted all four of Son Heung-min’s goals in a 5-2 victory at St. Mary’s.

When asked by Football Insider if he had noticed a marked difference in the way Kane was playing this season, Robinson said:

“The assists he is getting now as well, it is a part of his game which has really developed.

“He has been great linking up with Son.

“This season he has dropped into deeper positions and I think he is taking up positions that he never has before.

“His work-rate and all-round game has got better this season.”

Son has been the main benefactor of Kane’s changed role for Spurs this season, playing on the shoulder of the opposition centre-halves when Kane drops into a number 10 position.

The Korean winger has scored eight goals in seven appearances across all competitions in 2020/21.
