Pundit fears for Everton as Marcelo Bielsa jets in for talks – ‘what is the thinking?’
Appointing Marcelo Bielsa as the new Everton manager would be a risk for the club.
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Toffees’ hunt for a new manager.
Sources told this site on Tuesday (24 January) that Marcelo Bielsa has rejected an approach from Everton as they search for a new boss.

The Argentine is said to have been the number one choice of owner Farhad Moshiri and on Thursday (26 January) Bielsa was pictured by the Daily Mail landing at Heathrow airport ahead of talks with the club.
Frank Lampard was sacked by Everton on Monday night (23 January) after losing back-to-back relegation six-pointers against Southampton and West Ham.
“It came as a surprise [Bielsa being linked], I thought a safer pair of hands like Dyche would be top of the list,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“He has been sitting, waiting on a job like this. He was harshly sacked by Burnley, for me. I think this is a job that he would love to get his teeth into.
“It’s a big club, building a new stadium, in trouble at the bottom, it’s a huge opportunity. He has a sparkling record at keeping teams in the division too.
“Bielsa would be risky but maybe better for the fans long-term. He has Leeds playing some outstanding football.
“He was hard done by at Leeds as well. But the problem is you have two managers with completely different styles, what is the thinking?”

Bielsa was sacked by Leeds United in February 2022 with the Whites deep in relegation trouble, while Dyche has been out of work since leaving Burnley in April 2022.
The Toffees sit 19th in the Premier League ahead of their next two league clashes against Arsenal and Liverpool.
In other news, pundit claims Everton could be “in big trouble” after Bamba Dieng transfer update.
