Pundit ‘fears’ for Man United after Marcus Rashford reveal via Sky – ‘from what I hear’

Frank McAvennie has “heard” Man United star Cristiano Ronaldo has been trying to “get the player together” and “give them advice”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker “fears” for United and suggested there is “no quick fix” for their problems.

Speaking to Sky Sports (22 August), Marcus Rashford said the Old Trafford side are a “work in progress” and will take time to adapt to Erik ten Hag’s style.

The 24-year-old recognised the team have to work “as a unit” to be successful moving forward.

The Red Devils were runners up in the 2020-21 season but finished sixth place in the 2021-22 competition.

McAvennie insisted it is “too late” for Rashford to be calling for unity.

He’s got to say something,” he told Football Insider‘s Charlotte Cohen.

Man United

I used to like doing our talking on the pitch. From what I hear all [Cristiano] Ronaldo’s been trying to do is get the players together and give them advice. He’s won about seven Ballon d’Ors, you’ve got to listen to somebody like that.

I get you’ve got to stick together but it’s a wee bit late. They should’ve been doing it last year and the year before. This group of players have seen off about four managers. Jose Mourinho got sacked because of the players. I don’t really know what’s happening with the players it’s strange. There’s no quick fix. I just fear for them.

In other news, Kieran Maguire has said Man United must solve ‘outstanding’ £223m issue as takeover on the line.
