Pundit ‘feels sorry’ for David Moyes amid West Ham manager latest – ‘it’s not his fault’

West Ham should be backing David Moyes this month instead of leaving him in “limbo”.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

According to The Telegraph (15 January), West Ham are considering appointing a “short-term” option like Rafael Benitez as Moyes’ job hangs in the balance.

The Hammers have now only won one of their last eight Premier League games following a 1-0 loss to fellow strugglers Wolves on Saturday (14 January).

After making no senior signings so far this month, Wenham has been left baffled by the club’s strategy.

“Why aren’t West Ham signing players?” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Clearly, they aren’t going to sack Moyes, surely they would have done it already. So I’m not sure what the club’s plan is at this moment.

“If Moyes is staying then you have to back him, that isn’t happening at the moment. He was backed in the summer for the first time and it hasn’t worked out too well.

“That being said, there is no way they will improve without a bit of fresh blood. The club is in limbo a bit now. I appreciate the death of David Gold might have slowed things down.

“But the need for investment is clear and it doesn’t seem to be happening. I feel sorry for Moyes because there isn’t a clear path, to me, and it’s not his fault.”

West Ham sit in the Premier League’s bottom three ahead of a crunch clash against Everton on Saturday (21 January) – with a loss meaning Moyes could be relieved of his duties.

The Toffees are also in a terrible run of form that has seen them win only three league games this season.
