Pundit feels sorry for Harry Maguire after latest Man United development
Harry Maguire may look to force a move away from Man United in January.
That’s according to former Aston Villa and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the defender’s future.
According to the Evening Standard‘s Nizaar Kinsella (24 August), Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea were interested in signing Maguire, 29, had they been unsuccessful in their bid for Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana.

However, Fofana did arrive at Stamford Bridge in the final days of the transfer window in a deal Sky Sports (1 September) report to be worth £75million.
The defender has now not played in Man United’s last three Premier League games after failing to impress Erik ten Hag while starting the first two games of the campaign.
McLeish insists Maguire will have chances to work his way back into the side but claims he could leave if it becomes clear Ten Hag isn’t a fan.
“You have to feel for Harry, it’s not quite his time,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.
“You wonder if a transfer might have been the best thing for him or still might be the best thing for him.
“He will get chances, players get injured and there will be a lot of rotation once the European competitions start.
“But he is an England player and wants to be picked by Gareth Southgate going forward.
“Maybe if by January, he really isn’t playing then he could look to leave.”

Maguire has made 146 appearances for Man United and remains the club captain despite being dropped from the starting XI.
The Red Devils are next in action against league-leaders Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday (4 September).
