Pundit fumes at West Ham stars after source’s David Moyes update – ‘dreadful’

David Moyes is not entirely to blame for the poor season West Ham are experiencing.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Hammers boss’ future.

Moyes, 59, has been under growing pressure either side of the World Cup and the team have taken just one point from nine since their Premier League campaign resumed.

Everton

Sources told Football Insider on 6 January that the recent death of West Ham co-chairman has weakened Moyes’ position as Gold is believed to have been a strong advocate of the Scot behind the scenes and would frequently offer him private support and encouragement.

McManus insists the players must take some of the blame for the Hammers’ poor form.

“He is under serious pressure at the minute,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“His signings have let him down so far this season though it was nice to see Scamacca score the other night, he needs to keep that going.

“How long do you leave it with Moyes? He has a lot of credit in the bank but they spend serious money in the summer, I think it was £160million.

“Paqueta and Scamacca were far from cheap. He has been bagged and they have got worse as a result which makes no sense.

“They have some really big games coming up and he is on shakey ground. If he losses any of the next couple then it could be game over for him.

“Not all of this is Moyes’ fault. There are so many players out of form, when is the last time Antonio turned in a decent performance?

West Ham, Jarrod Bowen

“Where is Jarrod Bowen? They have been dreadful.

The players who have been so good over the past few years are nowhere to be seen so if Moyes does go then the players need to take a look at themselves.”

In other news, Kieran Maguire has tipped West Ham “auction” as “deal of the century” is cited.
