Pundit gutted by Keita injury amid Liverpool update today

Gabby Agbonlahor has admitted it was “sad” to see Naby Keita suffer another injury setback at Liverpool.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Keita was enjoying his best Liverpool form before he was stretchered off against Man United.

The midfielder opened the scoring in Liverpool’s 5-0 rout at Old Trafford – his third goal in four games across all competitions.

He was forced off just after the hour mark after a nasty challenge from Paul Pogba.

However, Liverpool confirmed today (October 29) the 26-year-old will be available for their game against Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend.

Last season, Keita managed just seven Premier League starts, including the opening four games, as he struggled with various injuries.

“It was a shame for him to get that injury [against Man United],” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He scored again, was making some good runs. It’s definitely something that was sad.

“I’m sure he’ll get his chance again in the team because I think Klopp would have been happy with his recent performances.

“He came off in the game before [against Atletico Madird] but against Man United he was outstanding.”

Keita has now managed 85 appearances for Liverpool across competitions and has scored 10 goals and contributed five assists.

The 38-cap Guinea international is under contract at Anfield until the summer of 2023.

He moved to the Reds from RB Leipzig in 2018 after a £47million deal was agreed the previous summer.
