Pundit hails ‘incredible’ Liverpool duo after ‘insane’ Klopp reveal
Noel Whelan has insisted there is “no one better” than Liverpool full-backs Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson in the Premier League.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 27-year-old Scot “goes under the radar” compared to his 23-year-old counterpart.
Andy Robertson brought his tally of assists to eight on Sunday (23 January) after setting up Liverpool’s opening two goals in their 3-1 win over Crystal Palace.
That haul means three Reds players now top the Premier League assist charts – with Alexander-Arnold (10) and Mohamed Salah (nine) occupying the other top spots.
Whelan insisted the wing-backs contribution to Liverpool’s success is “incredible”.
“There’s no one better than these two in the Premier League,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“Robertson perhaps flies under the radar a bit more than Trent. But when you look at their output over the past few seasons, it’s just incredible.
“They both start attacks, score goals, they’re dangerous in the box, always looking to get back – their fitness levels are amazing.
“They can do everything.
“That’s where a lot of attacks stem from for Liverpool, getting those wing-backs nice and high and overloading opposition defences.
“They certainly haven’t let their manager down as these other key players go away on international duty, that’s for sure.”

As quoted by the Telegraph (21 January), manager Jurgen Klopp hailed the “insane” ability of Alexander-Arnold and insisted there is no other player like the full-back in world football.
Liverpool sit eight points behind league leaders Man City with a game in hand on the reigning champions.
