Pundit ‘heartbroken’ for Rangers star Jack after ‘sickening’ injury update – pundit

Rangers star Ryan Jack’s latest injury layoff will be “devastating for him psychologically”, according to Noel Whelan.

The former Aberdeen striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the news will be “heartbreaking” for the 29-year-old.

As confirmed by Giovanni van Bronckhorst on Tuesday (14 December), Jack will be out of action until after the winter break.

The Scotland international returned from a long-term calf injury in November but suffered a setback in training.

Whelan insisted Van Bronckhorst will want the “quality” former Aberdeen star available.

“He’s had a very long time out, come back in – it will be very devastating for him psychologically,” he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge.

“There’s nothing worse. He’s done his rehabilitation, training, worked his way up to being match-ready – and then another setback happens.

“It’s heartbreaking for him. I’ve been there a few times, and you do get that sickening feeling inside your stomach.

“I really feel for him, but we all have tests put in front of us – and hopefully he comes through this one with flying colours and comes back stronger.

“He’s a quality player that Giovanni van Bronckhorst will want to have in his squad.”

Jack has made a smattering of substitute appearances in recent months – but now faces being sidelined until the end of January.
