Pundit hits out at Jurgen Klopp after Sky’s new Liverpool ‘ban’ reveal
Noel Whelan has accused Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp of “almost tarnishing” his side’s 1-0 win over Man City on Sunday (16 October) with his sending-off.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 55-year-old should receive a “touchline ban” for his outburst.
Klopp was dismissed late on in Sunday’s game after berating linesman Gary Beswick from close proximity when a foul on Mohamed Salah was not given.

As per Sky Sports (19 October), the FA have hit the German with a charge of improper conduct – with the Liverpool boss having until Friday (21 October) to respond.
The report quotes the Reds boss, who admitted he “went over the top” – but insisted he didn’t disrespect the official with his outburst.
Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was handed a one-match touchline ban in August after he was found guilty of improper conduct by the FA.
Liverpool, who registered a 1-0 win over West Ham on Wednesday (19 October), face Nottingham Forest on Saturday (22 October).
Whelan insisted Klopp was “wrong” and called on him to “set a better example” in future.
He told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think he’ll get a touchline ban.
“When you’re in the environment and passions are flowing, it’s no different to players. Managers feel that as well.
“Look, it was a blatant foul. Klopp was trying to protect his players, but he’s done it in the wrong way.
“He’s apologised, he knows he shouldn’t have done it.
“He needs to set a better example, and he needs to be on the sidelines for Liverpool because he is important for them.

“He almost tarnished that good win for Liverpool.
“He’s got to manage these emotions a bit better. We don’t want to take his passion away, but just these little moments of anger.”
