Pundit issues ‘big’ Alfredo Morelos claim after new Rangers twist

Frank McAvennie has claimed Alfredo Morelos won’t be able move to a top English club if he leaves Rangers this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker suggested the lower divisions in Spain and Italy as potential destinations for the 26-year-old.

As quoted by the Daily Mail (30 August), Giovanni van Bronckhorst said he held positive talks with the Colombia international over his future at Ibrox.

The Gers boss said the striker will be “important” for his side over the coming months.

Morelos is yet to start a competitive fixture for Van Bronckhorst’s side this season.

McAvennie said the Bears will struggle to sell the forward.

Morelos, I just don’t see it,” he told Football Insider.

He’s going in to the last year of his contract, you’re talking about a couple of million for him. If I was a chairman I wouldn’t buy him just now.

“His attitude and fitness will be a big factor.

“It’s a shame because he’s one hell of a player. If he’s not wanting to play for 50,000 Rangers fans every week, you’re not going to play for a Championship club. He’s not going to go to a good club down in England. He’ll be going abroad to Spain or Italy to a lower division team, there’s no way he’ll be going to any big club. I just can’t see it.

Rangers

Do I think he’s good enough to play for the big clubs? Yes, but with his attitude and his fitness, teams won’t take a chance on him. People have got money to burn down in England but not to give away.

A fit, healthy Morelos, playing and enjoying his football, you might pay money for him but at the moment, no.

In other news, a sources has told this site that Rangers are set to announce Devine deal after offer accepted.
