Pundit issues ‘big’ Eddie Howe claim after Newcastle United source’s four transfers reveal

Frank McAvennie has praised Eddie Howe’s approach to transfers at Newcastle United.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Newcastle are “going places” and need to be wary of the characters they bring in to the dressing room.

On 11 December, sources told this site that the Magpies will listen to offers for club captain Jamaal Lascelles, Ryan Fraser, Matt Ritchie and Jamal Lewis in January.

The quartet have been deemed surplus to requirements by Howe and owners PiF have given the manager the green light to offload the players for the right offers.

The Toon boss has managed to change the fortunes of players like Miguel Almiron and Joelinton since his arrival at St James Park.

McAvennie has heaped praise on the manager.

Eddie Howe is good at bringing the best out of players.,” he told Football Insider.

He will speak to people that know the players. I think that is a big important thing to his game now.

I think for a few years they did not do that. They were bringing players in that were bad for the dressing room.

They have gone back to checking out the temperament of the players and their characters. I think that is a good thing to do.

Sometimes you get a great dressing room and somebody comes in and spoils it. You do not need that at a club like Newcastle that are going places. You do not need somebody coming in and pushing them backwards.
