Pundit issues ‘big’ Liverpool verdict after Sky’s Endo Fernandez update
Alan Hutton has told Liverpool to keep their options open in the transfer market.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender insisted the Reds can’t rely on Jude Bellingham or Declan Rice as their only transfer targets.
Back in August, Sky Sports journalist Melissa Reddy reported that the Merseysiders have been keeping an eye on Benfica’s Endo Fernandez.
But, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano speaking on The United Stand (29 November), the Spanish club are looking for “crazy money” for the 21-year-old.
The price tag is believed to be around £70million.
On 27 November, sources told this site that Liverpool are planning to bring in two big-name midfielders next year with Jude Bellingham at the top of their list.
On 21 November this site revealed that the Anfield club are closely monitoring West Ham star Declan Rice at the World Cup ahead of a potential swoop next year.
Hutton insisted Liverpool need to look at alternatives to the big name stars.
“You have to keep your options open,” he told Football Insider.
“The players that we are talking about, the level that we are talking about, all the teams in world football will be looking at the likes of Bellingham and Rice.
“You can’t just pin your hopes on one player and say we’ll pay whatever to get him because he might not come. You have to keep your options open.

“If you look at the way they have worked in the transfer market recently, the likes of [Fabio] Carvalho, [Luis] Diaz, [Darwin] Nunez, they are all young.
“They paid big money but they are young so you can see they are building for the future. If they can get one of the big guys in then good but there will also be different youngsters to come in as well.“
