Pundit issues ‘big’ Nat Phillips claim after new Liverpool development

Alan Hutton has insisted Nat Phillips has a “big opportunity” at Liverpool.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said that now is the time for Phillips to prove to everyone how good he can be.

The 25-year-old had been heavily linked with a loan move away from Anfield this month but after more injuries for Jurgen Klopp’s side, Phillips is staying at the club.

Konate

According to journalist Paul Joyce (31 January) Ibrahima Konate has been added to the injury list at Liverpool and is facing up to three weeks out and could be absent for the Champions League clash against Real Madrid.

Virgil van Dijk is also still expected to be sidelined for a few weeks.

Hutton urged Phillips to use the unfortunate injury situation to his advantage.

He puts himself in the shop window at a high level,” he told Football Insider

He would have been more disappointed if the loan move did not happen and all those players were fit because he knew he would not be involved in the first team regularly.

Liverpool

Now with the injuries he is going to be needed and he is going to be used. So it is not a problem then. If you are going out on loan it is because you are not playing.

I think this is a big opportunity. He will know his future is probably not at Liverpool but it is an opportunity for him to go and shine and show everybody how good he can be.
