Pundit issues ‘big’ Tottenham claim ahead of Newcastle United showdown – ‘I have to say…’
Newcastle United are more than capable of getting a result away to Tottenham on Sunday (23 October).
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the upcoming clash.
Newcastle take on Spurs after an impressive start to the season in which they have only lost one game from 11 total outings.
Antonio Conte’s side sit five points and three places above the Magpies heading into the weekend following their loss to Man United on Wednesday (19 October).
McManus claims Newcastle can extend their unbeaten run at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after being left unimpressed by the hosts.
“Tottenham are in a great position but I have to say I have been disappointed in a couple of the times I have seen them play this season,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“You just want a bit more from them. I don’t see why Newcastle can’t go down there and get a result, with the way they have been playing, who knows?
“If you score first against Tottenham then you can get them rattled them a bit, get in their faces, they don’t like it.
“We saw Newcastle go away to Old Trafford and play so so well, they could do the same to Tottenham and that would be a big result for Newcastle but a big blow for Tottenham.
“I think we will learn a lot about both teams in that game.”

Last season, Newcastle lost 5-1 in the same fixture.
However, the Magpies were unbeaten in their previous two visits to Spurs’ new stadium.
In other news, one pundit has suggested the real reason why Antonio Conte hasn’t signed a new Tottenham deal amid ‘£200m’ claim.
