Pundit issues ‘big’ Yerry Mina verdict after Everton transfer news
Alan Hutton has claimed Yerry Mina could be replaced by Conor Coady at Everton.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said the Toffees “can’t trust” Yerry Mina to play consistently this season.
On Monday (8 August), the Merseyside club confirmed the signing of Coady, 29, from Wolves on a season-long loan.
The defender was named in the starting lineup for Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa.
Mina was injured in the Merseyside club’s season opener last week (6 August).
The 27-year-old sustained an ankle ligament injury in the second half of the 1-0 defeat to Chelsea.
Speaking to club media (8 August), Frank Lampard said the defender would be seeing a specialist to discover the full extent of the damage.
When asked if Everton would be willing to sell Mina, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think Mina is probably on a big contract.
“He’s another one who has struggled with injuries, he’s not really that reliable in terms of game in game out, you can’t trust that he’s going to be there.

“I think it’s all happening a little bit too late. I know there’s three weeks left and they’ve announced Connor Coady. He’s a very robust player, he can play regular football so I think he would just slip right in to that team so that’s a massive plus for Frank.
“But he’ll probably be looking to shift a few out before he can bring any in.“
