Pundit issues ’embarrassing’ Liverpool verdict after journalist’s Thiago Alcantara reveal
Paul Robinson has claimed Thiago Alcantara’s impact against Napoli “highlights a problem” for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England goalkeeper suggested certain players’ “application” is in question after the loss.
The Reds were humbled 4-1 by Napoli at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Wednesday night (7 September).
As revealed by The Athletic‘s James Pearce (8 September), Thiago made more tackles in his 28 minutes on the pitch than Liverpool’s starting midfield three and full-backs combined.
James Milner, Fabinho and Harvey Elliott started in midfield for the Reds, while Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson were named on the right and left-hand side of the defence.
When asked by Football Insider for his reaction to the stats, Robinson said: “That is embarrassing.
“For one player to have that much influence and impact is not right. That highlights a problem that they have got.
“The application of the players is under scrutiny. You cannot have one player working like that and the others not doing the same.
“Klopp has a lot or problems to sort out in the next few weeks. He has a huge injury list but he has to get those available playing with cohesion and playing for each other. They are not doing that right now.”

Liverpool have won just two of their opening six Premier League fixtures.
They welcome Wolves to Anfield on Saturday.
In other news, a pundit has claimed Gavi could be a Liverpool star for ’10 years’ after a journalist’s transfer update.
