Pundit issues emphatic Harry Maguire verdict after early Man United team news
Alan Hutton has claimed Harry Maguire will remain on the Man United bench for the “foreseeable” future.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said the 29-year-old will remain the United captain though despite the fact he’s not playing.
The Red Devils have won their last three Premier League games, including a 1-0 victory over Leicester on Thursday (1 September).
The England international has been on the bench for all of those games.
Speaking to club media (2 September), Erik ten Hag revealed Antony, Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka could be involved against Arsenal but Anthony Martial is ruled out.
When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Maguire ahead of the clash against the Gunners, Hutton said:
“He’s the club captain and when you’re the captain it doesn’t matter if you’re playing or not because you oversee everything.
“I think if he is left on the bench, and they are playing well, there’s no need to really change your team unless there’s injuries. I think it will stay this way for the foreseeable.

“Whoever he picks as captain on the day, whether it be [Bruno] Fernandes or whoever’s playing, that’s fine but I don’t see him making any rash decisions.
“I think it will stay as is until the time comes where Maguire is back in the fold. I think he will rotate, there’s a lot of games so it’s going to be up to him, when he comes in, to show the manager that he’s willing to fight for his place and that he’s playing at a high standard.“
