Pundit issues ‘frightening’ Man City verdict after £100m reveal
Frank McAvennie has claimed £100million of a transfer budget may not be high enough for Man City.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said the football world has “gone mad” with the amount of money being spent on players.
According to the Sun (27 August), Pep Guardiola has been granted a January transfer budget of £100m.

City have spent £104million during the summer transfer window, with Guardiola claiming there will be no new arrivals before the window slams shut on Thursday (1 September).
The figure is one of the Manchester club’s lowest spends in recent years.
Some of their new arrivals include Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips, Sergio Gomez and Julian Alvarez.
Haaland has already scored six goals for the Etihad club in only four games.
The Cityzens’ boss is said to be given £100m to play with in January in case any players catch his eye during the World Cup.
The Sky Blues haven’t lost a Premier League game yet this season.
When asked for his assessment of the latest, McAvennie told Football Insider: “It depends in January, it’s a long way away in football terms.

“There’s that many games that there will be injuries. I think they’ve got a great array of talent. I think Man City are now starting to crank up.
“£100m doesn’t get you a lot in today’s market. It’s frightening, it’ll get you one player, maybe two decent players. I can’t believe I’m saying that, the football world has gone mad.“
