Pundit issues ‘huge’ Darwin Nunez claim after what he’s seen at Liverpool

Liverpool star Darwin Nunez will not struggle in the Premier League but he has no chance of winning the golden boot.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

On Saturday (30 July), Liverpool beat Man City 3-1 at the King Power Stadium to win the FA Community Shield

Roberto Firmino started for the Reds in attack alongside Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah but made way for Nunex on the hour mark.

The summer signing then scored Liverpool’s third to secure the first silverware of the 2022-23 season for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Nunez was ridiculed by some fans on social media after spurning a few chances during Liverpool’s pre-season but Wenham is in no doubt over the player’s ability.

“The doubts are from non-football people who haven’t played the game,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He is a young guy who has looked very, very good every time he has played, especially in the Champions League game against Liverpool last season, he looked huge, absolutely outstanding.

“I have no doubts about his quality or Haaland’s quality for that matter. It’s whether they acclimatise to the Premier League.

“If you are asking me if they will win the golden boot as I have seen people saying, absolutely not.

“That will be one of Harry Kane or Heung-Min Son.

“That is not just my Tottenham bias speaking, Harry will thrive on those big players being in the Premier League and the competition that brings.”
