Pundit issues ‘huge’ Man United takeover claim after source’s record-breaking reveal

Alan Hutton has claimed the “huge” potential takeover of Man United will be a “bigger” worry than their record-breaking transfer fees.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Premier League right-back said United will give Erik ten Hag the financial backing he needs in January.

On Saturday (10 December), this site revealed that the Red Devils owe £307million in transfer fees following their summer splurge.

Man United

The Premier League giants have smashed the league record for the total amounts owing in transfer instalments to other clubs.

The club spent £218m on new players in three months during the summer that covered the signings of Antony, Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia.

Last month (23 November), the Glazer family announced that they were open to selling the club.

The owners are looking at several options including a new investment, a sale or another transaction involving the company.

When asked if the money owed will prevent United from being active in the January window, Hutton told Football Insider:Possibly,

Do I think they will go and spend a hundred plus million? Probably not.

I think if there is something that Ten Hag feels that he needs then they will back him.

Man United fans are growing tired

“I think that is something that a lot of clubs will have, where they stagger payments for expensive players and pay it off. I do not see it being a huge problem.

There is obviously a lot of rumours about selling the club and that is not going to help. You do not know who is going to be in charge moving forward. That is huge and probably going to be a bigger worry.
