Pundit issues ‘huge’ verdict on Jude Bellingham signing for Liverpool after source’s update

Liverpool are ‘back of the queue’ for Jude Bellingham this summer after their poor start to the season.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the midfielder’s future.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (23 January) that Liverpool target Bellingham, 19, has no intention of signing a new Borussia Dortmund contract with new talks planned this week.

Interested clubs are likely to have to spend £120million-plus to sign the England international this summer, more than four times what Dortmund paid in 2020 when he was 16.

The midfielder’s current contract runs until June 2025.

McManus insists Liverpool are now back of the queue to sign Bellingham.

“Liverpool are desperate for a new midfielder,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“Bellingham is the one they want, the one they have been linked with. But there was never any way they were going to get him this month.

“He’s probably Dortmund’s most important player and it’s going to be a big deal, one that gets done in the summer.

“But Bellingham has to join the best club for him. Is Liverpool that club right now? They won’t be in the Champions League next season, I’m sure of that.

“Real Madrid, Man City, they will be. So if he is choosing, he has to look at the long-term vision and you could argue that Liverpool are on the way down.

“It is a huge decision either way.

I think Liverpool are probably back of the queue out of those three clubs at the moment.”
