Pundit issues ‘incredible’ Eddie Howe claim after Newcastle United development – ‘can’t write it’

Eddie Howe could be at Newcastle United for the next decade after leading a remarkable turnaround at the club.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

When Howe took over at Newcastle in November 2021, the club were winless and rock bottom of the Premier League.

Just over 12 months on, Newcastle found themselves second in the Premier League after demolishing Leicester 3-0 on Boxing Day.

It is unknown how long Howe is contracted for at St James’ Park after he signed a “long-term” new contract on the eve of the 2022-23 season with the club not confirming the length of the deal.

Wenham sees no reason why Howe won’t still be in the St James’ Park dugout in 10 years’ time.

“Howe has done an incredible job at Newcastle,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“A lot of people are writing it off as a result of the money, but that’s not quite true. look at the turnaround of the players, people like Joelinton, Almiron, Longstaff, it’s remarkable.

“He has a blank club to work with. Everything can go through him. Some people said Howe isn’t the long-term option for them, I remember people saying that when he came in.

“Why not? He’s saved them from relegation and has them near the top of the league in less than 12 months. You can’t write that.

Why can’t Howe go on and win trophies and get Newcastle into Europe?

“He’s never had the opportunity before and now he has it, it’s looking really good.”
