Pundit issues ‘incredible’ James Forrest verdict after what he’s seen at Celtic
Alan Hutton has hailed James Forrest’s “incredible” Celtic career.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers defender insisted it will be “good competition” for Liel Abada if Forrest continues on a strong run of form.
Forrest scored a hattrick for the Hoops in their 6-1 win over Hibernian on Saturday (15 October).
The 31-year-old’s third goal in the second half marked his 100th goal for the Parkhead club.
The winger has made just seven appearances for Ange Postecoglou’s side so far this season, with the manager favouring in form Abada over the Parkhead veteran.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game (15 October), the Green and Whites boss praised Forrest’s “outstanding achievement” despite his lack of game time recently.
When asked if the former Scotland international could be set for a run in the starting lineup, Hutton told Football Insider: “It is good competition.
“I agree that he will go down as one of the Celtic greats. What he has done since he broke into the team, from appearances to goals, is quite incredible. He has proved it year after year.

“It has obviously been difficult this season with injuries and Abada playing well. But you want your full team to be competing against each other. That is the only way you get better.
“There is obviously an opportunity for him to go in and play. Obviously after a hattrick you would like to think he deserves another opportunity in the coming games but I am sure the likes of Abada will have something to say about that as well.“
