Pundit issues ‘incredible’ Jude Bellingham claim after Liverpool source’s transfer update

Liverpool may have to shell out an extra £20million to sign Jude Bellingham after his performances at the World Cup.

That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the midfielder’s future.

Football Insider revealed last week (17 November) that Liverpool are willing to commit a huge sum to securing the landmark signing of the Dortmund superstar.

Rival clubs including Real Madrid, Man City and Chelsea are all interested – but it is understood that the Merseysiders are in “pole position” after forging a strong relationship with Bellingham’s camp.

Football Insider also revealed on Sunday (27 November) that Liverpool are working on signing two midfielders in 2023.

McAvennie would not be surprised if Bellingham was one of them.

“What a start to the World Cup he’s had,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“That header was incredible. A proper centre-forward’s header, I scored a few of those in my time. It’s always transfers with this guy, isn’t it?

“Everyone wants to know. One thing is for sure, you can add another £20million onto his asking price after that goal against Iran.

“Liverpool need him. He would fix all of their problems but they might not have the money. If they do then I can see this one happening.

“There is just so much talk about Bellingham going there, there has to be something in it. We need to see him in the Premier League because he is a magnificent talent.

Man City

Bellingham scored his first Three Lions goal in his first World Cup game as Gareth Southgate’s side started the tournament with a 6-2 win over Iran on Monday (21 November).

However, he failed to make an impact against the USA on Friday (25 November) and was hauled off midway through the second half.

In other news, Liverpool man is “obsessed with Newcastle United”.
