Pundit issues intriguing Arsenal claim after ‘devastating’ setback

Arsenal are still in a “really good position” despite losing their unbeaten Premier League record.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Gunners’ chances of finishing in the top four.

The Gunners lost 3-1 at Old Trafford last weekend (4 September) as their perfect start to the 2022-23 Premier League season came to an end.

Mikel Arteta’s side had won their opening five Premier League games against Crystal Palace, Arsenal, Leicester, Fulham and Aston Villa and they remain top of the league.

Kenny is backing the Gunners to continue to impress when the Premier League resumes.

“It’s devastating for them that they have lost that record but they are still in a really good position,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I was talking about the end of the last season and how they completely threw away any chance of finishing in the Champions League.

“They are right up there this season. They have only had one bad day at the office, really. That was against Man United.

“They need to dust themselves off and go again because I’ll tell you this, they have a brilliant set of lads and a brilliant team there. “

“It might not have gone for them on the day but they can go up against anyone in this division.”
