Pundit issues ‘massive’ Everton claim after ‘surprise’ news
Everton have turned the corner under Frank Lampard after beating Southampton.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Blues’ form.
The Toffees beat Southampton 2-1 on Saturday, registering back-to-back Premier League wins after their victory over West Ham before the international break.
They now sit 11th in the Premier League and summer signings Andre Onana and Conor Coady are starting to impress,
Kenny admits he is surprised by how well Everton have performed this season.
“Lampard has to take the credit,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Now he has his own team in there, things are starting to look good. I’m a bit surprised but I don’t think they will be in a relegation battle this season.
“I spent all summer saying how worried I was. The signings didn’t really convince me they had got any better but they have been good this season.
“The performances have been the main things for me. Hat game against Liverpool, they should have won and that is not the first time that happened this season.
“I think they will be well clear of the bottom three and that has to be the thing for Everton, they are a massive club and what has happened in the last few years has not been good enough.
“They won’t be going for Europe but they could have a really good season and, again, Lampard has to take credit for that.

Everton finished 16th last season.
The Blues are next in action against Man UN=nited next Sunday (9 October).
