Pundit issues ‘massive’ Harry Kane claim as Tottenham suffer crushing blow

Tottenham must not rely on Harry Kane’s goals with Heung-Min Son set for a spell on the sidelines.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Spurs’ emerging goalscorers.

Kane has failed to score in Spurs’ last three games after starting the season on fire scoring 11 goals in 19 total appearances.

Ryan Sessegnon, Ben Davies and Rodrigo Bentancur scored Spurs’ three goals against Bournemouth (29 October) while Clement Lenglet and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg bagged against Marseille on Tuesday (1 November).

Heung-Min Son also looks set to miss Spurs’ next few games after picking up an injury in the game against Marseille with the club confirming on Wednesday (2 November) that he will require surgery.

McManus claims Tottenham can’t go back to relying on Kane.

“It was crucial that it wasn’t Harry Kane who scored against Bournemouth, it was the guys who don’t usually chip in,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“That’s massive because they have been heavily reliant on him this season and I think that is why they have struggled at times this season, especially in Europe.

“Son hasn’t been doing it and I don’t think Richarlison got that many before he got injured so it has been Kane.

“Don’t get me wrong, Kane has been phenomenal and he will continue to score but if others can keep chipping in as well then it will keep Tottenham right up there.

“More goals are more points, it’s as simple as that.”

Tottenham

Tottenham are next in action against Liverpool on Sunday (6 November).

Antonio Conte’s side currently sit third in the Premier League table.
