Pundit issues ‘massive’ Raheem Sterling claim after ‘fuming’ reveal at Chelsea

Gabby Agbonlahor has admitted he is not surprised Raheem Sterling was left “fuming” by his move from Man City to Chelsea.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed it was “quite obvious” Sterling was unhappy with his role at Man City.

The 27-year-old told Sky Sports last week (20 August) that the end of his time at the Etihad left him “fuming and raging”.

He scored 131 times in 339 games for City and won the Premier League four times before moving to Chelsea for £47.5million this summer.

“I think it was quite obvious, to be honest, as an outsider,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Charlotte Cohen.

“There were massive games where he didn’t start. He’d been there so long, scored many goals for the club and put in top performances.

“Last season, he was probably rotated the most it looked like from afar.

“A player like Sterling wants to play football, he wants to be in the World Cup squad, he wants to play regularly. Now he’s doing that at Chelsea.

“It’s one of those things, sometimes it happens. Sometimes managers move on, players move on.

“His comments are not a big deal. He’ll still have a load of love for Man City. He’s still one of their best players with the stats that he’s got there, performances.

“Now he’s moved on and hopefully, he can do similar at Chelsea.”

Sterling scored his first two goals for Chelsea in a 2-1 win over Leicester City on Saturday (27 August).

The England international is under contract at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2027.
