Pundit issues ‘massive’ Rangers claim – ‘I’m scared’
Rangers face a “massive ask” if they are to qualify for the Champions League group stage.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about whether the Gers can return to Europe’s premier competition.
Rangers face PSV in the second leg of their Champions League qualifier on Tuesday (23 August) after last week’s 2-2 draw at Ibrox.
The Gers threw away a late lead during that game and now travel to Holland with the scores tied.
PSV have had the weekend off while the Gers struggled to a 2-2 draw with Hibernian on Saturday (20 August).
Kenny insists Rangers have what it takes to qualify.
“It’s a massive ask now,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“If they had managed to keep it at 2-1 so they are taking a lead there, then they are defending something and they have a better chance.
“Listen, it’s football. You can’t rule it out. You look at the stats, Rangers’ away form in Europe is poor but anything can happen.
“Who thought Rangers would get to the Europa League final? Who saw that coming? No one gave them a chance. I’m scared about the pressure and what that might do.
“The pressure could be on PSV now instead of Rangers. It’s 90 minutes away from the Champions League, you don’t need any more motivation than that.

“Rangers are capable but we know PSV can cause them problems.
“I think there will be plenty of goals either way.”
