Pundit issues ‘miraculous’ Tottenham stadium claim after source’s reveal
It would be a “miracle” if Tottenham made it to a Champions League final in their own stadium.
That’s according to former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Spurs’ plans to host the final after 2026.
On 13 December sources told this site that Daniel Levy wants the Tottenham Hotspur stadium to be the host of the Champions League final.
The chairman is also open to staging the Europa League final.
The locations for the next three Champions League finals have already been decided and Levy is eyeing up a bid for after 2026.
The Lilywhites reached their first, and only, European cup final in 2019 where they were beaten 2-0 by Premier League rivals Liverpool.
McAvennie insisted Spurs are unlikely to make it to a final, even if they are the hosts.
“It is a beautiful stadium but one thing I know is that Tottenham will not be in it anyway,” he told Football Insider.
“So it will not make any difference. I can’t see Chelsea, Man City or any of the big boys being too worried about it.

“Everyone knows it is a great stadium. Even if Tottenham were to miraculously get to the Champions League final it would be different because UEFA give out the tickets so there is no home advantage.
“I think it will not make any difference to them because it will not be like a home game. I can get why they are going for it because it is a great stadium but whether they will get it or not I do not know.“
