Donny van de Beek, Jesse Lingard, Eric Bailly and Anthony Martial "would be a great start" to a recruitment drive at Newcastle United, according to Paul Robinson.

The former Spurs and England goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Manchester United quartet could provide the foundations for a successful side on Tyneside.

According to the Mirror (10th October), Van de Beek, Lingard, Bailly and Martial are all on Newcastle's wish list ahead of the January window.

The four players have all struggled for game time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season.

The Magpies woud face stiff competition for the quartet in the transfer market though.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on the potential incomings at St. James' Park, Robinson said:

"Listen, Newcastle are going to be linked with every man and his dog now. An incredible amount of money has come in and everyone's expecting some big names to come in.

Newcastle

"I am hearing a lot of people question whether players will move up to Newcastle and live in the north east. It is an hour in a helicopter from London. There is some beautiful places in the north east so let me tell you, it will not be a problem. They will be able to attract the world's best players.

"The four Man United players would be a great start. It would give them a good foundation to build on. In the short-term, those type of players would be a great option."
