Pundit issues one-word verdict on Bruno Guimaraes quitting Newcastle United after source’s reveal
Frank McAvennie has suggested Bruno Guimaraes’ decision to sign a new contract at Newcastle United will be “all about the money”.
But, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker insisted Guimaraes won’t have his head turned by a big offer from another club.
On 5 March, sources told this site that the Magpies are confident of agreeing a new deal with the 25-year-old whose current contract runs until 2026.
The midfielder signed from Lyon in January 2022 and is seen as an integral part of Eddie Howe’s side moving forward.
It is understood that the Brazilian is extremely happy and settled in Tyneside after joining Newcastle and the club are confident of finalising terms.
When asked if Guimaraes’ head could be turned by a big club in the summer, McAvennie told Football Insider: “No.
“I’m led to believe there is a plan at Newcastle and I think he will be part of that. Anyone who has got half a brain knows where Newcastle are going. I think you would want to be a part of that and he will be a major part of that.
“I think he will stay. I do not care what anyone says it is all about money now and Newcastle will be offering as much as anyone. Nobody plays for the team anymore it is all about money.

“Eddie Howe will have sat down with him and said he is going to bring in big players and he is going to be part of it. I do not see anyone not wanting to be part of that.
“Any player that plays down there is a god so I do not understand why you would not want to be a part of that.“
