Pundit issues ‘phenomenal’ Arsenal verdict as Mikel Arteta quotes emerge

Tam McManus has hailed the “phenomenal” start to the season Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side have had.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hibernian striker said that the Gunners will be disappointed with the result but it should not detract from their strong start to the season.

Arteta’s side were held to their first draw of the season by Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton side on Sunday (23 October).

Arteta has guided his side to their best ever start to a Premier League season with nine wins from 11 games.

Speaking to club media (23 October), the Arsenal boss shared his frustrations over the draw and insisted his side should have won the game.

Arteta added that although there are positives to take away from the performance, he demands better from his players.

McManus understands the boss’ frustrations but said it shouldn’t detract from their overall performance this season.

Towards the end I think it could have gone either way,” he told Football Insider.

Southampton had a couple of chances. I think that is a disappointing result for Arsenal.

But still, two points clear. They have played 11, won nine, drew one and lost one. It is a phenomenal start for Arsenal.
