Pundit issues ‘sensational’ Trent Alexander-Arnold claim after what he’s seen from Liverpool

Tam McManus was blown away by what he saw by Trent Alexander-Arnold as Liverpool beat Aston Villa.

The former Hibernian striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insists the defender is now back to his best.

Alexander-Arnold, 24, started as Liverpool beat Aston Villa 3-1 on Boxing Day.

For Liverpool’s opener, he played a sensation defence-splitting pass to Andy Robertson who the squared the ball to Mohamed Salah.

McManus was blown away by what he saw.

“Yeah, I watched this game and let me tell you, that is not a player who is lacking confidence. I think he has a point to prove now,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“After going to the World Cup and barely playing, a poor start to the season, it seems as though he has that fire in him.

“The pass for the first goal, wow, sensational. He wouldn’t have even attempted that before the World Cup, it was special

“Hopefully this can be the start of something for him. If he plays like that for the rest of the season then we are talking about a seriously talented player.

“We all know how good he is. It just looks like he is now going to show everyone every time he plays which is great for him and Liverpool.”

Alexander-Arnold has made 21 appearances for the Reds this season, scoring three times but failing to assist.

Liverpool are next in action against Leicester City on Friday (30 December).
