Pundit issues two-word verdict on Alfredo Morelos penning new Rangers deal

Alfredo Morelos has got “no chance” of earning £45,000-a-week at Rangers.

That’s according to former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Morelos’ contract demands.

The 26-year-old has just over six months left on his Ibrox contract and could leave for free in the summer.

Last week (10 December), sources told this site that the Light Blues have failed to agree a new contract with the striker after he demanded £45,000-per-week.

The Colombia international told the club that he wanted a pay hike that would make him the highest paid player at the club.

McAvennie insisted Morelos will not be given what he’s asking for.

He has got no chance,” he told Football Insider.

He has got to lose about 45 pounds. The guy has not done anything for them to demand those terms. I do not think he is in a position to demand anything.

I do not think the Rangers fans will be too disappointed if they say no. He was the talisman, he was the main guy and now he is not.

When he comes in it is a waste of time. He is not going for the balls that he should be. I would say he is playing for a move but I do not know where he is going to go.

You have got to produce on the park for somebody to buy you. Nobody is going to take him if he is at that fitness level.

Rangers

Morelos was in the starting lineup for the Gers’ return to competitive action on Thursday (15 December).

The striker scored to help Rangers secure a 3-2 victory over Hibernian and give Michael Beale his first win as manager.

In other news, a pundit has claimed Rangers have found top ‘quality’ Ryan Kent replacement as new deal agreed.
