Pundit issues ‘unbelievable’ Harvey Elliott claim after confirmed Liverpool news
It is no surprise to see a player of Harvey Elliott’s “unbelievable” quality handed a new Liverpool deal.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the youngster’s future.
On Thursday (11 August), Liverpool announced Elliott, 19, has signed a new deal with terms running until the summer of 2027.
The midfielder played 39 minutes in Liverpool’s Premier League opener last weekend (6 August) and played a key role in his side’s first goal.
Speaking to the official Liverpool site after signing his new deal, the boyhood Red admitted he wants to end his career at Anfield.
Kenny is not surprised to see Elliott handed such a long deal.
“This is what you have to do with these young players,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He had a bad injury last season and managed to come back. Obviously, he is raring to go again and he was involved in one of the goals against Fulham.
“He did really well. It’s important for Liverpool to keep these kinds of players and tie them down because a young guy with his unbelievable talent will be in demand.
“It’s a long deal it will be huge money and you have to do that. If he wants to stay there for his whole career, that is great to hear and I’m sure Liverpool fans would love it.”

Elliott has made 22 senior appearances for Liverpool.
He has one senior goal to his name after scoring against Cardiff in the FA Cup on 6 February.
