Pundit issues ‘unbelievable’ Wilfried Gnonto claim after what he’s seen from Leeds United
Wilfried Gnonto may be the long-term striker Leeds United have ben looking for.
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Italian’s form.
Gnonto, 19, scored twice as Leeds United beat Cardiff City 5-2 on Wednesday (18 January).
He scored his first just seconds into the first half, a stunning volley from a tight angle that left the Cardiff stopper helpless.
His brace took his goal tally for the Whites to three for the season after making just 10 appearances for the club, seven of which were starts.
McManus has been blown away by the striker’s performances.
“Gnonto, again, what a goal from the kid,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“He just keeps impressing every time I see him play. It looks like he is now a regular in the team and you have to say Jesse Marsch got it right.
“He didn’t start him for a while and the fans were on his back. Then when he was finally unleashed he has been one of their best players.
“There is your long-term striker replacement. Leeds have been struggling for goals, they won’t struggle if this guy stays fit.
“He’s had an unbelievable start to life in Leeds and I can’t wait to see what he does next.”

Gnonto signed for Leeds United on transfer deadline day (1 September).
He was called up to the senior Italy side for September’s internationals and was afforded half an hour against England on 23 September before being given a start against Hungary on 26 September.
