Pundit issues verdict on Everton sealing multiple ‘big-money’ January deals after update
Everton may be unable to operate in the January transfer window as they have no sellable assets to raise funds.
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Toffees’ January plans.
Everton returned to Premier League action with a 2-1 loss to Wolves on Boxing Day, leaving the club one point and one place above the relegation zone.
The Toffees have struggled in front of goal this season, scoring just 12 in 16 league games.
As quoted by the Express (24 December), Frank Lampard said he will be looking for “more options in forward areas” once the January window opens.
However, McManus fears the club does not have the money to invest in a big-money player as the club continues to build a new stadium.
“Everton need big-money players who are going to come in and change things,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“Do they have the money for that? I keep going on about this stadium, they must be spending so much money on that.
“Do they have the money to go out and buy the players they need? Can they afford to not go out and sign those players?
“They are in such a difficult position because they need two or three at least. Top-quality players as well. As a minimum.
“You have to worry for them if they don’t sign anyone. I just wonder if the money is there.”

The Blues have won just three Premier League games this season.
Everton are next in action against Manchester City on New Year’s Eve.
