Pundit issues verdict on Jack Harrison signing for Newcastle United amid £100m+ claim

Leeds United will not sell Jack Harrison to Newcastle United this summer because they have netted over £100million by offloading Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha.

That is the view of ex-Aston Villa and England forward Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Harrison potentially signing for Newcastle.

The Daily Mail reported last week (9 July) that the northeast giants are lining up a bid for the 25-year-old.

It is claimed Eddie Howe is a fan and sees him as a cheaper alternative to the £60million-rated Moussa Diaby of Bayer Leverkusen.

Leeds United have already lost Phillips this summer after he completed a £45million move to Man City earlier this month (4 July).

Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday (12 July) that the Whites had accepted a bid from Barcelona for Raphinha that could be worth up to €67million (£56.5million), including a €58million (£48.8million) upfront fee.

“Players like Harrison have got to step up this season,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Now they’ve brought in over £100million, when Raphinha goes, I don’t see them letting anybody else go who they see as a good player.

“There are no more outgoings after Raphinha, only incomings. I don’t think they’ll let Harrison go.”

Harrison still has two years left to run on his Leeds contract after he finally completed a permanent move to Elland Road last summer (2021).

The former England youth international has scored 16 goals and provided nine assists in 71 Premier League games for the Whites.
