Pundit issues West Ham fans claim after source’s David Moyes sack reveal

Noel Whelan has insisted David Moyes is “under pressure” at West Ham.

But, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds United striker says it doesn’t make sense to “get rid” of Moyes and risk “rocking the boat” at the London Stadium.

Last week (6 December), sources told this site that the 59-year-old is close to being sacked.

The boss’ relationship with co-chairman David Sullivan has become increasingly tense due to disagreements over transfers and how they should be sourced.

Moyes will be in charge of the Irons when they resume their Premier League campaign against Arsenal on Boxing Day but he could lose his job early in the new year.

Whelan insisted the pressure will be on for the manager as soon as the season restarts.

It is a very stressful and it is a very difficult job to manage a football club,” he told Football Insider.

Fans have got to realise what he does day in day out. There is always pressure on you every single game.

You will find that there is fine margins between winning, losing and drawing, sometimes you do not get the rub of the green. People need to be patient and just realise what a good job he has done. I think the chairman has done that.

Even when there has been pressure from the fans and results haven’t quite been going their way, sometimes it does not make sense to get rid of a manager and bring somebody else in and rock the boat again.
