Pundit issues ‘worst of all time’ claim after what he’s just seen from Aston Villa

Aston Villa do not deserve plaudits despite securing an impressive win over Tottenham.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Aston Villa beat Tottenham 2-0 on Sunday (1 January), meaning Unai Emery has now won three of his four games in charge of the club.

Despite the impressive result, Wenham was not impressed with what he saw from the Villains.

“I didn’t think they were they were great,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“They weren’t pressing us. They didn’t create a whole host of chances. We were never really on the back foot either, nothing happened in the game.

“Ashley Young charged into a few people but other than that, what did Villa really offer? They had a half-chance in the first half where Watkins did well to get in the right position but then produced one of the worst finishes of all time.

“I don’t remember them doing a lot else. The first goal came from absolutely nothing, a Lloris mistake. It wasn’t a dominating Villa performance.

“I don’t have a lot of positives to give you about Emery’s side. They were average but Tottenham were worse, it’s that simple.”
