Pundit: Kane will be thrilled as Tottenham make move for ‘brilliant signing’

Noel Whelan has claimed Harry Kane “would love” Tottenham to pull off the signing of Adama Traore from Wolves.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker insisted the 25-year-old would be a “fantastic signing” for the Lilywhites.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider Spurs have had a loan-to-buy bid for Traore rejected by Wolves.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham choose to launch a second bid ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Whelan insisted Traore had ironed out his consistency problems in recent years at Molineux.

As such, he suggested Kane would love to have the Spain international supporting him in attack.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “He’s a quality player, no doubt about that. He can change games, we know that, we’ve seen it.

“He’s powerful, he’s quick, he’s really improved on his final ball and that execution on an assist or a finish. That was one big question mark over him.

“He’s definitely got the quality to drive past players. Has he got the intelligence and quality to get an end product after the hard work he runs with the ball? That now has changed.

“I think he’s a bit more of a complete player now. He would be a brilliant signing. He’d be a player that would open up doors and open up defences with that quality and power that he’s got.

“I’ve got no doubt that Harry Kane will love somebody like that next to him. That’s where Tottenham are. You look at Son, you look at the other players.

“They’re quick, they’re strong, they drive past defenders. You’ve got the advantage of Nuno knowing him very, very well as well.”
